Marketing, Culture, and a Changing World

On September 13, 2018, DHA Suffa University launched DSU Professional Lecture Series, a lecture series that sets out to examine and explore the global business landscape. The lecture series, initiated by the Professional Development Center of DHA Suffa University, aims to feature renowned experts from around the world and offers an open platform for corporate professionals, academia and students to share information, have intellectual discourse and network with each other. Addressing the audience on this occasion, Rear Admiral (R) Engr. Prof. Dr. Sarfraz Hussain, Vice Chancellor, DHA Suffa University, said that DHA Suffa University sees the lecture series as an important opportunity to foster an exchange of knowledge and engage with professionals from all sectors of the economy.
The lecture series debuted with a lecture on “Marketing, Culture, and a Changing World” on September 13, 2018. The lecture featured Mr. Hartmut Wellerdt, a renowned German scholar and former CEO of Unilever, Germany. His lecture examined the ability of various elements of culture to effect businesses. Discussing media and brand communication, he emphasized how elements of cultures and sub-cultures should be taken into account by managers to maximize the outcome of brand-building activities. He also touched upon the impact of technology in the context of how the overall marketing landscape is constantly evolving. The lecture was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session.
