PROGRAM OVERVIEW

With the rise of digital channels and more marketing technology solutions available than ever before, no one can deny the importance of a well-rounded strategy that speaks to all stakeholders of your business. It is interesting to see that despite the data insights that technology brings, humans still crave human interaction and there is a shift back to the good old days of personalization at a 1:1 level. There was a time when marketing was segmented into B2B orB2C, most likely to separate specialties, audiences and segments. What it ended up doing, however, was create an unnatural language for marketers and by the time a message gets to the person actually buying the product, the aspects that make it special have been eaten up by marketing vernacular.

FACULTY – Mr. Ahmed Jamal Shaikh

Ahmad Jamal Shaikh is an action-oriented business leader with 25 years of post MBA experience in managing different businesses in Pakistan, Middle East & Africa. He has all round experience of working as manufacturer, distributor, trader, indenter, importer and exporter with proven records of Multiplying top-line & bottom-line of the business. Mr. Jamal also has extensive experience in establishing Industrial & Consumer brands in Global Markets. Ahmad Jamal has designed Supply Chain models, ensuring effective & efficient JIT deliveries to companies like Nestle, Danone & Cadbury Schweppes, in different parts of the world.
He has also authored a book titled “A handbook of Logistics & Distribution Management” in the area of Supply Chain, which is taught/referenced at different business universities across the region. He is currently writing a book on B2B Marketing, as well, where he brings in the human concept into the text.
Ahmed Jamal teaches at various business schools in the country including IBA and DHA Suffa. He has written research papers on “Long-term Production Viability Evaluation Grid”, “Warehousing on the waters” & “TOWS Matrix – a new dimension”, which are soon to be published in international business journals.
Ahmad Jamal’s research interests include Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain Management, Marketing Strategy, Business Strategy and Human to Human Marketing.

Significance of Communication Skills for Professional and Personal Growth

Join us for a session on "Significance of Communication Skills for Professional and Personal Growth" on October 19, 2018 (Friday) from 3:00pm to 4:00pm in DSU Auditorium.
About the speaker: Gul Zaib Shakeel is the Head Writer at Teeli of Dawn Media Group, a digital channel known for scripted comedy that Pakistanis can relate to. Teeli produces content that puts a comical spin on the modern Pakistani experience and sheds light on some of the most common issues faced in Pakistan. She is also a visiting faculty member at Karachi Grammar School, where she teaches A-level students.
An alumnus of SZABIST, Gul Zaib has previously served as a screenwriter for Geo Films, where she worked on scripts that were produced as joint ventures with India. She started her career as a scriptwriter and TV-show host for of Hum Network and went on to write and direct telefilms for Geo Entertainment. She has also worked on Moor, a feature length film that became Pakistan’s official submission for Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Annual Academy Awards.

About the Speaker

Sarfaraz A Rehman commenced his career with Unilever and then moved to Smithkline Beecham (GSK), during their merger years. Later, joined Jardine Matheson/Olayan JV in the Middle East, where he handled business development and logistics along with Finance. He moved to Pepsi in 1998 and was Country Manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan region. In 2005, Mr. Rehman joined Engro Foods as CEO which became a leading FMCG company in Pakistan. Engro Foods among several performance awards won the G20 Global Top 15 Companies award. The first Pakistani company to get this award. Mr. Rehman then took a sabbatical from commercial work and decided to move into the social responsibility sector with Dawood Foundation for education projects in 2011. He then rejoined Engro Foods as CEO in June 2013 and successfully completed his contract in July 2015 and retired. EFL a very large and profitable FMCG in 2015, sold 51% shares to Royal Friesland Campina for over half a billion dollars which was one of the largest private foreign investment in Pakistan's history. Presently, Sarfaraz A Rehman provides advisory consultancy support to organizations which are willing to create an impact. Also was an Executive Coach for Grant Thornton for two years. Mr. Rehman does mentoring and coaching for younger executives and college students and gives motivational speeches at relevant events.

About the Session

In his lecture, Mr. Rehman will talk about the importance of authentic living, and carving a niche for yourself despite going through the same educational and professional experiences like everyone else. He will shed light on the importance of being a well-rounded human being. Harvesting from authentic living, and from his 20 plus years of study in the area, the speaker will go on to talk about climate change, scarcity of resources, and the looming water crisis in the world, and its impact on Pakistan.
*This lecture is free of cost and open to the public. Students, industry professionals, subject matter enthusiasts, students from other universities, related private and government bodies, are all encouraged to attend.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Pakistan as different studies show it kills nearly 40,000 women every year. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breast cancer rates are getting worse and it is not sparing even younger age group. Therefore, in order to create awareness, DSU Women Empowerment Society is planning to organize a seminar in collaboration with Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre!
We request all the female students, staff and faculty of DHA Suffa University, to join us! As, in this seminar, we will not only discuss the cure of this disease but will also talk about its prevention and precautions.
