DSU Wins at SUPARCO’s Space Fair 2016
Under the guidance of Dr. Bilal Siddiqui, students from DSU's Department of Mechanical Engineering won first and second positions in the National University Project Competition of Space Fair 2016. The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) organized the fair at Pakistan Air Force Museum, Karachi on October 22 and 23, 2016.
DSU’s “Hybrid Rocket Engine” (Pakistan's first hybrid rocket engine program) won the first place and a cash prize of PKR 20,000, while DSU’s "Solar-Powered Airplane" won the second place and a cash prize of PKR 15,000.
This was DSU’s debut appearance in the prestigious event and the participating teams from DSU consisted of final year engineering students, who competed against final year graduate students from other universities. Their success demonstrates their readiness to make their mark in the professional world, once they graduate from DSU. The management of SUPARCO showed keen interest in Dr. Bilal Siddiqui’s projects and extended collaboration offers in multiple fields.
