Symposium on Pakistan's Economic Strategy in a Changing World

The Economics, Supply Chain and Finance clusters of DHA Suffa University organized a symposium on “Pakistan’s Economic Strategy in a Changing World” on October 6, 2017. The symposium was a panel-based discussion that was followed by a networking high-tea. The panelists of the symposium were Dr. Farrukh Iqbal, Dean and Director, Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Dr. Zeeshan Ahmed, Rector and Dean, Karachi School of Business and Leadership (KSBL), Dr. Kaisar Bengali, a renowned economist, and Mr. Muhammad Hanif Ajari, Director Strategic Development, Getz Pharma Pvt. Limited. The program was moderated by Dr. Huma Baqai and the Chief Guest of the event was Brig. Shahid Hassan Ali, Administrator DHA. The event was attended by senior representatives of academic intuitions as well as CEOs and Directors from the corporate sector.

The purpose of the event was to initiate a thought-provoking discussion among top academicians and industrialists of the country by discussing Pakistan’s economic strategy in a new world order. The significance of this event stemmed from the need to plan for the future, which lays the foundations for any country’s economic success. The aim was to analyze how Pakistan could leverage its strengths and mitigate its shortcomings by discussing potential short-term and long-term strategies that could propel Pakistan’s economy as a global leader.

The introductory address was delivered by the Vice Chancellor of DHA Suffa University, Engr. Prof. Dr. Sarfraz Hussain, who highlighted key global economic trends shaping today's economic environment and emphasized on the need for Pakistan to formulate policies and strategies to gain a competitive edge over other countries in the region and in the world. The panel discussion touched upon the topic of CPEC and the need for transparency and better negotiations, long-term growth trends and the need for private investment, the need to manage our resources, investment in human capital and creating a demand for the skills. The closing address was delivered by Administrator DHA, Brig. Shahid Hassan Ali, who assured the audience with regards to better planning and transparency related to CPEC projects in the future.
