Children Eid

The CSR department and the students of DHA Suffa University raised funds in the month of Ramadan to assemble Eid packages for the children of Qayyumabad who participated in DSU Community Academy. A total amount of PKR 31,000 was collected and 25 Eid packages containing a variety of items including clothes, accessories and edibles were prepared for the children and their families. Student volunteers from DHA Suffa University along with CSR Coordinator, Admin Officer and a security guard went to Qayyumabad and distributed Eid presents. The aim of this drive was to bring smiles to the faces of children who were unable to celebrate Eid.

Hydraulic Arm Project Display 2018

On May 9 and 10, 2018, the Mechanical Engineering department at DHA Suffa University organized a display of second semester term projects on “Hydraulic Arm” led by Engr. Syed Ali Afzal and Engr. Mansoor Dawson under the supervision of Engr. Mohammad Khurram and Engr. Zeeshan Vohra. The objective of the activity was to manufacture a Hydraulic Arm and offer the students a platform to display projects related to principles of Mechanical Engineering. The designs of Hydraulic Arm were highly appreciated by faculty members and guests.

Final Year Projects 2018

The innovative and product-oriented design projects of Mechanical Engineering final year students of DHA Suffa University were exhibited at the University in ProEx 2018.
The event was attended by executives and representatives of Pakistan Refinery Ltd.; Star Air Aviation; Pakistan Beverage Ltd.; Pak Suzuki; KTDMC, AuVitronics Limited; Crescent Steels Pvt. Ltd.; KinPoe; STEM; Feroz 1888 Mills Ltd.; Hussein Engineering Works Pvt. Ltd.; Mapak Edible Oils Pvt. Ltd. and Bank Islami.
Two keynote speakers from industry, Mr. Ghulam Hussain, Executive Director Star Air Aviation and Engr. Asad Hasan, Deputy Managing Director Pakistan Refinery Limited addressed the students. They emphasized the role of Engineers in Aviation Industry within Pakistan and the Middle East and on the importance of professional ethics in their careers respectively. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Sarfraz Hussain addressed the ceremony appreciating the participation of the industry professionals, adding that their attendance serves as source of encouragement for the students.
Several product oriented and innovative design projects of multi-disciplinary and applied nature developed by Mechanical Engineering students of DHA Suffa University were put on display. These included cost-effective Multi-Filament 3D Printer; Water Jet Cutting Machine; Plasma Cutting Machine; Autonomous Soil Analyzer Rover; Agriculture Crop Duster Sprayer UAV; Agricultural Water Treatment System; Fresh Air Supply Smart System for Warehouses and Subsonic Wind Tunnel.
The industrial representatives praised the professional excellence, engineering prowess and workmanship of Mechanical Engineering students. They also acknowledged the level of knowledge and skills imparted by highly qualified faculty to the students of Mechanical Engineering Department.

International Arduino Day 2018

The Electrical Engineering Department of DHA Suffa University celebrated International Arduino Day on May 10, 2018. The objective of this event, organized by Engr. Sara Noor and Engr. Haris Zikrur Rehman, was to motivate students to showcase their talents by designing innovative projects using Arduino. Arduino controller is a vital component of nearly all the engineering prototypes that can be developed into commercial products, creating new pathways for students to select their final year projects. This event provided a platform to people from academia and industry to share their experiences and guide future engineers, thus, bridging the gap between both domains.

5th Award Distribution Ceremony

DHA Suffa University held its 5th Award Distribution Ceremony on March 31, 2018, to honor the academic and extra-curricular accomplishments of high achievers. Students who secured positions on Dean’s and VC’s Honor Lists in Fall 2017 semester as well as students who secured positions at inter-university national and international competitions were awarded certificates of appreciation during the ceremony. The Chief Guest of the ceremony, Lt Gen Shahid Baig Mirza, HI(M), Chancellor DSU and Commander 5 Corps, lauded the efforts of award winners and urged them to continue their quest for excellence in the same manner. Administrator DHA, Brig Shahid Hassan Ali, was also present on the occasion.

Participates in Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2018

Shell Eco-Marathon is an international competition that challenges students to produce innovative, fuel-efficient vehicles and compete against teams from around the world to achieve maximum fuel economy. Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2018 was held at Changi Exhibition Center Singapore from March 7 to 11, 2018.
Team DSU Shell Eco-Marathon officially represented DHA Suffa University in this prestigious competition. The team comprised of 9 undergraduate students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and was guided by Engr. Safa Sattar and Engr. Najiullah Hussaini. In its debut participation at Shell Eco-Marathon Asia, Team DSU passed all technical inspections within a day, which is a testament to the team’s exemplary level of preparation and professionalism.
As teams assembled on track, a number of experienced teams struggled to register valid runs, while Team DSU successfully performed two valid runs in three attempts. The team officially registered a fuel economy figure of 51 km/l, thereby, earning the unique honor of becoming one of the two teams from Pakistan to post valid fuel economy figures (Urban Concept Category) on the leader-board.
Team DSU’s performance at Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2018 marks the successful culmination of a grueling first year for the team and represents the pursuit of excellence that is the hallmark of DHA Suffa University.
Team DSU achieved all its targets for the year 2018 and aims to compete with leading teams from around the world through ground-breaking innovations and continuous improvements in design, analysis and manufacturing of the vehicle.

Celebrates International Women’s Day

To observe the International Women’s Day, the Women Empowerment Society of DHA Suffa University organized an event titled “Press for Progress” on March 5, 2018. The objective of the session was to call for progress on gender parity and create awareness through motivational talks, panel discussion, a play titled Zimal and a documentary on women empowerment.
A panel, consisting of Prof. Dr. Rana Qamar Hameed (Medical Doctor and Professor, Dow University of Health Sciences), Prof. Dr. Shahana Urooj Kazmi (Rector, DIHE) and Faakhir Mehmood (Singer and Songwriter), addressed the audience and shared words of wisdom with students that not only inspired them but also prompted them to think about the struggles women go through in order to achieve equality and success in society. The event was attended by representatives, faculty members and students from DHA institutions and DHA Suffa University.
