New Faculty Orientation – Spring 2017

An orientation program for the newly appointed faculty members was held on February 7, 2017 in the conference room. The objective of the program was to help the new faculty transition comfortably into their DSU faculty roles. The program focused on providing the new faculty members with requisite information and familiarity with facilities, policies and technologies of DSU through a welcome address, brief introductions, overview of DSU regulations, explanation of the criteria of quality at DSU, salient features of the examination systems, introduction to the Professional Development Center and IT infrastructure. The orientation program culminated with questions and answers and an interactive refreshment session.

Quality Assurance Awareness Seminars

Department of Management Sciences

During the second half of March 2017, a series of lectures was conducted for the students of Management Sciences (MS) by Ms. Bushra Mahmood, Assistant Director, Quality Enhancement Cell. The lectures focused on Quality Assurance Awareness and IQA Mechanism at DHA Suffa University. Participants included students from BBA-5 to BBA-8.

The lectures took place as per the following schedule:

BBA-5 – 30th March – Tuesday – 11:00 – 19 students

BBA-6 – 17th March – Friday – 11:00 – 29 students

BBA-7 – 28th March – Thursday – 10:00 – 11 students

BBA-8 – 17th March – Friday – 13:00 – 34 students

The lectures covered an introduction to quality and why quality improvement must be emphasized by the university. The students were briefed about the ranking criteria and maximum scores for each criterion. An overview of the Self-Assessment of Programs was given to help students understand the holistic approach to maintaining quality. The assessment model was then explained and the lectures were kept interactive to encourage participation of students. HEC’s self-assessment criteria was explained in detail which included program’s mission, objectives and outcomes, curriculum design and organization, laboratories and computing facilities, students’ support and advising, process control, faculty, institutional facilities and institutional support. Each of these assessment criterion were discussed to explain how they contribute to achieving quality. The importance of Feedback and Survey Forms was also discussed and how they help with assessment was emphasized.

In the end, the outcomes of assessment were explained to the students. The lectures concluded with question-and-answer sessions.

Quality Assurance Awareness Seminars

Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Mechanical Engineering Department at DHA Suffa University (DSU) organized a series of sessions on the topic of “Internal Quality Assurance Mechanism and Role of Students” for the students of Mechanical Engineering. This exercise was carried out in cascading of the mission of Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at DSU to educate all of its stakeholders that DSU is committed to ensuring quality as a norm in everything it does. The seminars were delivered by Engr. Hamza Ahmed Qazi, Lecturer ME and Deputy Director QEC (Dy. QEC). The sequences of seminars were conducted for the ME students of 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th semester. • The ten Quality Survey Form for quality Assurance in HEIs

• The quality surveys related to students and their importance

• Guidance to fill the surveys for effective quality feedback and improvement

• Quality Assurance Mechanism / Cycle in DSU

• Question and Answer sessions to clarify students’ confusion

The Electrical Engineering Department at DHA Suffa University organized a series of Quality Assurance Awareness Seminars for students. The sessions conducted by Engr. Abdul Samad, Assistant Director, Quality Enhancement Cell focused on the following:

• Feedback and survey forms and student evaluation feedback system
