The Department of Mechanical Engineering arranged a full day industrial trip to HUBCO Plant for the students of semester VIII students enrolled in an elective Power Plants course on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. Under the supervision of Engr. Safa Sattar, the students visited HUBCO Plant where they observed the operations of Boiler, pump, condenser, steam turbine, heat exchangers and generators. Students also experienced the importance of working safely in a plant. They were able to identify the input and output of Rankine Cycle and understand the concept of thermal Rankine cycle performance. Heavy Feed water pumps hydraulic mechanism and speed regulation control were also observed. The plant visit was followed by the Q&A session where students’ queries were answered by the head of the Plan.

The trip was a great learning opportunity for students as it helped students relate many concepts studied in the classroom with real-life settings.
