A Session on IoT and Cyber security was conducted by Faculty of Computer Science and guest speakers at Auditorium on 9th January: 10:30 A.M to 12:30 P.M. Students from all the semesters of BS (CS) program attended the session. Speakers included Dr. Mahmood Haq (Myvest, USA), Mr. Umar Ahmad (UCLA, USA), Mr. Anwar Ahmed Khan (IBA), Dr. Shama Siddiqui (DSU) and Mr. Asif Rafiq (DSU).
Mr. Shabbir Halai, a Pakistani American Engineering professional having widespread experience of working in the Microelectronics industry in USA and Canada, gave a talk to DSU’s Electrical Engineering students on 8th-Jan-2020 in DSU’s Executive Lecture Theatre. In his talk he shared his experiences and lessons learned in the fields of Engineering, Business Development and Entrepreneurship. He advised engineering students on the importance of detailed and comprehensive design practices during the design phase of a microelectronic chip and the need to simulate as well as emulate as design engineers prior to finalizing the design. He also stressed on the need for design engineers to effectively communicate with the end consumer during the product design phase, to truly understand the customer’s needs and incorporate them in the product’s design. On the whole, the talk was extremely beneficial for mid-semester EE students, some of whom will be choosing Electronics as a specialization stream at DSU in their final year. Mr. Shabbir Halai’s lecture also had valuable tips for engineering students considering entrepreneurial ventures after graduation.
On December 18th 2019, Sports Department organized 1st DSU WUSHU (KUNGFU) Inter Collegiate/University Championship 2019 under the supervision of Director Sports. Total 12 teams from different colleges and Universities participated in this event. The final was played between DSU and Hamdard University. Finally, DSU team won the championship.
On 6th January 2020, Prof. Dr. Farhan Essa Abdullah CEO, Dr. Essa Laboratory and Diagnostic Centers and President OPEN Karachi visited DHA Suffa University. He gave token of appreciation to Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal Haque Vice Chancellor, DSU
Under the supervision and guidance of Mr. Moin Ul Atiq Director Sports and Student Counselor, the students of BBA and MBA program organized a study tour to visit Matrix Pharma.
The purpose of the tour was to let the students observe, learn and compare theoretical knowledge with practical working environment of business. The informative session was hosted by Mr. Jamshed (COO) at Matrix Pharma who shared his professional working experience and how to handle change in an organization.
Further he added no matter how much corrupt the environment around you, you should by all means stay true to yourself and honest in your work, be ethical, avoid malpractices, corruption and don’t be a hypocrite. Lastly, never underestimate the power of positive thinking. Positive thinking makes people grow mentally, physically and emotionally. It not only helps professional world but also in personal life. One should always look on the brighter side. The session was concluded by distribution of certificates by Mr. Liaqat Malik, father of COO, Mr. Jamshed to all the students and then Hi-tea was served.
On December 2nd 2019, Cricket match was played between DSU VS FAST NU. It was a very interesting match. Both teams played well, finally DSU won the game.
