Lead to Succeed

The Leadership Society of DSU (LDS) organized an ‘Enhancing Professional Capabilities (EPC) Lead to Succeed Seminar’ at the university on October 10, 2018, for the students to unleash their potentials and jolt awake the potential leadership qualities in them. This EPC session was conducted as part of the university’s objective to prepare the youth to become future leaders, innovators, inventors, and visionary professionals
The seminar was led by Mr Shaykh Atif Ahmed and Ms Dania Hasan. Mr Shaykh Atif Ahmed is a professional trainer and CEO of Al-Midrar Institute. He has led several professional trainings and conducted multiple workshops to train and influence the youth, to help uplift many individuals, and to pull them out of depression to reignite passion in their lives. Earning his professional degrees from the University of Houston, Texas, Mr Atif also holds an 8 year degree of Islamic Shariah Academics. He has also been invited to various corporate and international open discussion tours to Qatar. Ms Dania Hasan is the CEO of ‘Fun to Learn’, the youngest high achiever of the Pakistan-US Alumini Network #Under30Series, and has received Emerging Young Leaders Award and Summer Scholarship at John Hopkins, in addition to winning All-Pakistan Bilingual Declamation Contest.

The speakers delivered a heart-throbbing and tremendously thought provoking session at the DSU Auditorium where they piqued the audiences’ interest, and captured their attention by discussing what it takes to become a great and successful leader. The session was attended and appreciated by students and faculty alike. The seminar closed with the Vice Chancellor’s expression of gratitude as he presented the mementos to the speakers.

Peace Day

DHA Suffa University put up an interactive art installation (a golden wish tree) and engaged students in a week long activity to celebrate International Peace Day form the 24th – 28th of September 2018.

Oath Taking Ceremony 2018

DSU Student Societies Coordination Committee (SSCC) recently organized the very first Oath-taking ceremony for the Student Societies for 2018 – 2019. In their Oath the students pledged to execute their duties with honesty and commitment to follow the core values of DHA Suffa University and to abide by all rules and regulations of SSCC. The ceremony also included singing and drama performances by the students. The Oath was taken by Dean Engr. Prof. Dr. Johar Khurshid Farooqi. The Ceremony ended with the Dean and Faculty’s visit to the Student Societies Active Gala exhibit in the main courtyard where the student societies had set up their stalls for games and other activities. DHA Suffa University encourages students to take part in such ceremonial activities so the students have an enriching university experience.

Pink Day, October-15th-2018

In an endeavor to create awareness among the female fraternity of DHA Suffa University, DSU Women Empowerment Society organized a seminar on breast cancer awareness in collaboration with Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCHRC). To show solidarity to the cause, October 15, 2018 was observed as Pink Day in DHA Suffa University. Subject expert, Dr. Rabab Zehra, delivered an informative lecture, which was followed by a question-and-answer session. She discussed the causes, symptoms and prevention of breast cancer and guided the audience on how to self-screen for early detection. Renowned actress Ms. Maya Ali, campaign ambassador from Shaukat Khanum Hospital, also addressed the audience during this seminar.

IMechE UAS Challenge UK

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), a renowned international engineering society, organized the annual Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Challenge from June 17 to 19, 2018 at Snowdonia Aerospace Center, Llanbedr, Wales, and UK. The competition involved design, construction, development and demonstration of an autonomous and intelligent UAS, capable of carrying out a humanitarian aid mission. DHA Suffa University’s Team Zarrar became the first team from Pakistan and South Asia to receive certification for both rotary and fixed-wing autonomous flights and to participate for the second consecutive year in this prestigious competition. The team, led by faculty advisors from departments of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, designed, fabricated and flew an automated state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), equipped with a programmable autopilot, on-board camera and computer-based ground target recognition. Team Zarrar received immense recognition on achieving the fastest record of 54 seconds in completing UAS Scrutiny Phase. The team also secured highest score in Technical Report of the UAS Challenge.
