Session on “Design Thinking”

Google Developer Student Club at DHA Suffa University conducted a seminar on one of the most in-demand and rare concepts exposed to students known as Design Thinking. It is the thought process of Design with cognitive, strategic, and practical concepts in which design concepts are developed before making it on software.

In which the famous tech giant Apple theory of Design concepts by Steve Jobs was also emphasized thoroughly, the approach of Problem first was introduced that promoted the idea of focusing on problems more and less on the urge to write answers as said by the great scientist Albert Einstein.

“If I had an hour to solve a problem I’d spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and five minutes thinking about solutions.“

Several Design Thinking activities were conducted, where students of Human-Computer Interaction were given a blank sheet with sticky papers to visualize their ideas and formulate them into something that justifies the modern concept of User Interaction and User Experience. The roadmap, career guidance, and mentorship program were also introduced for people who are design enthusiasts and want to pursue their careers as product designers.

The speaker joined the session, all the way from Islamabad, Talal Athar, who is an Electrical Engineer turned into a Product Designer, currently working as a Senior Product Designer at Oraan and has also worked with Telenor, Ufone, and Zong. Talal is also a YouTuber and a marathon runner.
